What is herbal pelvic steaming?
Herbal pelvic steaming, also known as yoni steaming, is a traditional warming practice long enjoyed in Korea. You wear a special steam gown and sit on a stool with an opening in the centre. Steam rises from water infused with mugwort and other herbs, gathering inside the gown to warm your body.
At Lymph Haven, we use organic herbs to offer a different way to unwind — a chance to enjoy the warmth and herbal aromas while taking a little time to reconnect with yourself.
How is it different from a sauna?
Rather than heating the whole room, herbal steaming keeps the warmth inside your gown, with your head and face uncovered. If you find the hot air in a sauna uncomfortable, you may prefer this style of warming experience.
The comforting warmth and natural herbal aromas come together to create a quiet moment to switch off. There’s no need to aim for a heavy sweat — simply settle into a temperature that feels comfortable for you.
How can I spend my time?
Begin with a warm foot soak for around 10 minutes while choosing your herbs. Then change into your steam gown and settle in for approximately 30 minutes of herbal steaming.
Read a book, close your eyes, focus on your breathing or enjoy a little meditation. If you come with a friend, it might feel more like a cosy café catch-up.
Whether you need some quiet time alone or a chance to reconnect with a friend, you’re welcome to enjoy the session in your own way.
What does it feel like during the session?
You’ll remove your clothing and underwear in private, then put on the steam gown. As you sit, warm herbal steam rises beneath you and spreads through the gown, mainly around your lower body.
The feeling of steam against the external intimate area may seem a little unfamiliar at first. I’ll check in with you about how the warmth feels and adjust the temperature to help you stay comfortable.
I’ll be nearby throughout your session, so please feel free to ask questions or let me know if you’d like anything adjusted.
How might I feel afterwards?
Some people feel refreshed after sweating, while others enjoy a lingering warmth or a quiet sense of relaxation. Everyone’s experience is different and may vary from day to day.
Allow yourself a little breathing space afterwards rather than rushing straight into a busy schedule. Drinking water is provided, along with Celtic sea salt if you’d like some.
The little details at Lymph Haven
All our herbs, including mugwort, are organic. We use filtered water for steaming and provide reverse osmosis (RO) water to drink.
When repainting the salon, we chose low-VOC paint, which contains lower levels of volatile organic compounds. From the herbs and water to the room itself, each detail has been thoughtfully considered.
Our private, women-only home salon in Coomera offers a space where you can settle in and enjoy time to yourself.
